Behind The Scenes: Leah And My Pop-Up Flower Shop

​​The Blooms Social pop-up flower shop is located in the Bloom Palm Beach Studio. Opening my own flower shop and event florist provider is a dream come true. As a certified wedding planner and founder of Anna Hess Events, I discovered my passion for flowers. Although I love flowers and my time in my own garden, I had a lot to learn to become the kind of florist I wanted to be, and to open my own flower shop. And my journey could not have happened without Leah.

3 years ago, I was talking with Jimi The Tulip Man, my wholesale rep at Jet Fresh Flowers, about where I could take floral classes and learn more about event florists. He was the one who told me all about The Floral Encounter Conference – by Your Signature Designs.

The Floral Encounter Conference is organized by @the_michellesummers, a motivational speaker and curator of special events. Held annually in South Carolina, this conference brings the floral industry’s top and leading designers from all over, and is an opportunity for aspiring designers to jumpstart their business and floral design pros to discover new inspirations, trends and collaborators in the floral industry. Michelle Summers brings the BEST floral speakers… Leah T Williams, Sara Campbell, Bron the flower guy -LOVE him, Lance Devereux, David Tutera, Preston Bailey… just to name a few.

This conference changed everything for me.

I met Leah after hearing her speak and found out she designs in both New York and West Palm Beach. I knew I had to get to know her more. I’m not a stalker but I called and asked her to meet. Iced Tea? Coffee? Lunch? Anything. I had to learn more from Leah.

I have assisted Leah on her large scale jobs for the past two year, traveling and working along side her incredible florist team who also have been shared tips to help me grow my business and my skills.

In my new career as a freelance florist, I started sweeping up, clipping, filling buckets, foaming vessels and processing thousand of blooms – and I love every minute of it, and launched Blooms Social, my pop-up flower bar in West Palm Beach in 2022.

Projects Leah and I have collaborated on include 1st the Valentine’s heart box and most recently creating floral Ms. Caroline Astor for Fleur de Villes at Bal Harbour Shops.

Leah has been instrumental to helping me channel my passion for flowers into a new business, as an inspiration, a mentor and now a friend. ????
